House 1411
"Hello? Hello?? I'm sorry, there's nobody home right now. [ obnoxious peal of laughter: go ]
Ahh, that's right! Leave a message, and I'll get back to you. Right? That's how it goes? Aha, no telemarketers, please!
If you run up my bill, I'll have to ask you to pay the extra costs.

Re: T E X T
Hi

Re: T E X T

Re: T E X T

Re: T E X T
I got stupid and scared and I went to see badou
And it went badly
I don't know why I expected anything else
Re: T E X T

Re: T E X T
He's gonna go back to that place
And throw his life away
Re: T E X T

Re: T E X T
And nill says he won't be the same
I know I should stop doing this
But I'm not made to just let these things happen
Re: T E X T
i know you want to help
i know its what you do
its what you want to do in your heart
you have a very good heart
Re: T E X T
Re: T E X T
[but she can't stand to think any more about what she can't do, about what she can't stop, who she can't save. it's maddening and it hurts. she's so tired of it.]
Also I blew up some stuff
Trees mostly
Busted my hand a little
Re: T E X T
his life is too deeply engraved in him for that
his hurt too deeply burned into his heart
nill told me he lives
and he gains an ally and a friend
for him and his own thats a great feat
Re: T E X T
or meet me somewhere
Re: T E X T
that's something. it's something.]
Where
Isn't your wife home
Re: T E X T
i still have to close up
office is clean i promise
Re: T E X T
but carol finds that she doesn't want any of that. she doesn't even feel the pull. she just... wants to be near someone who understands her, and if that's where he is, then that's fine.]
Ok
I won't be long
action
the knuckles of her left hand are skinned and bloodied (the right with fingers still-splinted from the last time she felt too helpless, she hadn't wanted to risk making that worse).
the bell dings too cheerfully as she shoulders her way inside.]
Re: action
This way.
[ said, as he turns on his heel, makes his way to the discreet door near the back of the shop, hidden behind stacked casks and displays. the back, leading to his office, his one spot of refuge in this town these days. that, at least, is well-lit. ]
Re: action
(her best seems so far away; before this place, before the lesion. maybe she'll find that again, one of these days, to show him.)
in his office, she stands in the middle of it all, looking around the space, only half-noticing.]
So, uh. Nice place.
Re: action
he waves carol to a chair, once the office door is closed behind them, directs her to one of the industrial folding chairs pushed up against the wall. as he does so, he's pacing to the cabinet on the wall. ]
It's a terrible little mess, but it's homey.
[ it's more home to him than 1411 is now. ]
Your hand, how bad?
Re: action
[the hand, she'd almost forgotten, looks down at it as if surprised to find it in the state it's in. crack open the landlord's head for me, badou had told her, that was how she could help, and carol had certainly tried. couldn't get to the house, though, couldn't do anything but find something to take it all out on. several defenseless trees had suffered. so had she.
she sits, shifts, stretches out her fingers. still bleeding a little, not badly.]
Not broken, I don't think. It's gonna bruise something fierce, though.
Re: action
At least it'll do so without infection, eh?
[ it's a first-aid kit he retrieves from the cabinet, after a moment's rummaging, small and white and neat and professional. it's a wonder that he knows what to pick out, when he pops it open on his way back to carol's side. ]
Do I want details?
Re: action
[she musters a small smile for him as she holds out the injured hand for tending, leaning her face on the other one, elbow on knee.]
It had it coming. Sorry about all this.
[that last is quiet, subdued. sakamoto has become the one carol leans on, and honestly she's lucky to have anyone at all; without him, she's sure she would've broken down by now, more than once. still, it's hard, and she hates it -- being that helpless.]
Re: action
All that talk about being environmentally friendly, out the window. For shame.
[ his tone is light, though, gently teasing, an attempt at good humour. ]
